Pass electric discharges through a mixture a gases and water for a couple of days and analyse the products. You find simple amino acids suggesting that its possible to create the stuff of life.

The term primordial soup refers to the conditions prevalent during a time far in the past when the earth was developing the basic building blocks necessary for life.
