    Hey all,

I've come across a tricky question on an application:
" Give an example of when you have experienced an unexpected change in circumstances or environment, and tell us how you responded".

I understand that they're looking for an example of how adaptable I can be, as the job would probably involve situations of changing environment/circumstances.
My problem is, I can't think of anything unexpected.

I could talk about moving to Uni, or how I've adapted to working on fieldwork, or taking up a committee role except these are all things I was expecting, and to say they were unexpected may look like I just didn't do my research!

I guess they're looking for things like sudden changes in say, working or home environment, illness, financial changes etc but as a young adult who hasn't had a full time job and lives in the family home during holidays I can't say ive experienced anything too dramatic :/

    Thoughts?

    .......
You are just making expected/unexpected binary. you don't know exactly what living in Halls of residence or a flat with new people is going to be like, except that it's not like home. Don't over-think it. if you haven't got a sudden drama to write about, like a health issue, bereavement etc, make the best of what you have got, which is a module that was harder than expected, or a relative/friend/colleague that reacted differently to a situation etc.

dunno anything which didn't go correct and you had to fix that i.e adapt

i have that i can think up of now on the spot
I did my NCS thing and at the college where we were planning out our "activity" to help our local town etc, out team decided to help a charity by raising some money for it.
of course at the end of it you have to give a presentation with your team on what you did to help you local community
i conversed with my team and asked them to do specific things so i could put it all together and make it into one big powerpoint, turns out 1 day before the deadline no-one did anything and i only just managed to finish this and get all the relevant info onto this thing. I almost died doing that but it was most certainly not fun
