    Hi !
I have offers from both Bristol and Sheffield for mechanical engineering (4 years) but I'm not sure which one to firm / insure? Anyone studying / living here that can help?!

I'm at Sheffield and I think Bristol has a very slight edge due to it's reputation but it's not really enough to be a deciding factor. The only possible deciding factors I can think of are where you live, money and if you want a career in research. If you live in the SW or South coast go to Bristol because it's a pain to get to Sheffield from there, if you're tight for money then Shef will be cheaper, and if you want a career in research or academia then go Sheffield because they have a very well respected undergraduate research scheme (as in most people who complete it go on to receive PhD offers with just a Bachelor's). Otherwise I'd recommend visiting both places to decide because there's not much between them, they're both fairly similar tier cities and universities.
