In the past month, I have been tempted to post on here about:

    -my alcoholism

-my job and what i should do

    -my social life

    -what reality actually is

-my mental health problems and autism.

Is it futile to ask a forum about these things? Would I be better with a pen and paper thinking about it all, or reading books, or googling, or asking the professionals?

I think it depends on the person you are. People will always have advice for you and they'll always be willing to help, but I guess it's also about whether or not you want to post your business here. If it'll help you out, go for it! If not, then there are other ways. Have you got someone you could confide in?

I don't mind posting my business here!

I suppose there are people I could confide in, but I'm not sure what good would come of confiding. My mum thinks I'm heading for serious alcohol trouble, but I'm still not bad enough for the local alcohol abuse service, so the psychiatrist said there's not a lot he can do and I should try to sort it myself. I should probably just try to go it alone.

I think that although I have a job now and the odd other activity, I have long periods on my own and don't have friends because of my autism etc, and my mood gets very low so I turn to alcohol. I also don't have enough hobbies to distract myself, though I have some.

If you don't mind, then there's definitely people that can help you here. Even if it's having a chat with someone. There's always help at hand. Definitely make a post about it then, I'm sure loads of people will be willing to help out! I hope you feel better soon and you can PM me if you ever need a chat
