Certain Wavelengths of light are absorbed
The wavelengths of light that are reflected by the Cr3+ is the colour that we see

i thought it was only if cr3+ is in solution that it is coloured because of the ligands which cause the d d splitting.
also will cr3+ be coloured as a solid?

thats only in an aqueous solution right? because of the electrons are able to move/the d orbitals split etc.

but what about as a solid? is cr3+ coloured?

how are we able to see this colour if its not a transition metal and doesnt have dd splitting?

Yes if it is evaporated from thr solution
how can it be coloured? i thought it was only when there is d-d splitting that it could be.
