i used 2 work there
you basically sit in an office upstairs and watch video after video after video
then you fill out a million forms.

Yeah I work at Sainsburys now but started two and a half years ago.... The induction is probably the best day at work you'll ever have at Sainsburys as it is such a doss.... Don't remember mine being 8 hours though, think it was 4 but our store doesn't bother with some of the more trivial things

If you have any more questions about the place just PM me (I'm assuming you're going in at lowest of the low level)

I use to work @ Sainsbury's and my induction was exactly the same - 9am til 5pm. Jus watched video after video, filled in forms n then got the Uniform.

Trust me...it's boring! Mine was just me listening to the woman talking and watching videos with her. Plus the room we were in was freezing

Oh yeah...a lot of signing forms as well as people have said

Reply 5

Yep pretty much what everybody else has said. It is all common sense and absolutely ridiculous to be perfectly honest. I almost fell asleep if I wasn't keeping myself busy by doodling all over the employee handbook.

Just keep one thing in mind though-you are getting paid!

Yeah, it is quite long for an induction and it does get rle boring after a while, at least urs is only on one day, mine was 8-5 on a saturday and then 10-5 on sunday and then i spent another half day doing till training. Compared to Tesco, for example, Sainsburies' inductions are rle long. (and it will be just watching videos and doing paperwork).

Do you all have full time jobs or part-time? If part-time, how did you go about getting them? Just handing a CV in and waiting for a reply?

Also, what was the process after that?

Cheers

I work part-time with Sainsbury's (Saturday and Sunday), what i did was just fill in one of there standard application forms and hand it in personally in store (I didnt even need my C.V). You can pick up an application form at the information desk. The form is just gathering details and answering a questionnaire to test customer service (as long as ur not generally obnoxious, you should be fine). Then if your application is successful, your get a call in about a month for an interview. Hope you find a part time job soon cos I know how annoying it is to find one.

I have failed the application for Sainsbury's once. Do you guys have any tip to fill in the questionnaire? Cheers

Reply 10

Just answer every question with the answer you think they would like the most. I made the mistake of filling out a Tesco application honestly.

DON'T admit that you'd laugh at the old lady who drops her milk at the petrol station...

My induction was brill, the girl who did it was about 20 and couldn't give a monkey's. There was 4 of us (all students) & it took us 12 hours  Over three days though so not too bad. Video's were mostly on fast forward apart from the funny bits which went on replay - the acting  A few forms to sign & questions to answer (answer sheet next to u) and an endless supply of biscuits tea & coffee. Easiest money ever

I've got an induction for sainsburys tomorrow 9-5 and again next week. If its just watching videos that could get a bit boring! When do they show you how to actually do things like work the till?

I didn't realise you got paid for the induction, is this actually the case?

Reply 14

Yes you do get paid. Yes it is boring.

Reply 15

On my induction, I didn't do any till training. I wasn't trained on a till until a week after my induction. My till training was done by a different lady, to the one who did my induction and for me the two things were separate.

I rang sainsburys today and asked if they had any vacancies and the woman told me to come in on wednesday with my passport and national insurance card to fill in some forms. Is this what everyone else had to do? And can anyone explain what happens next? Like will they interview right then and there etc etc?

Reply 17

Thts not what happened to me and im not quite sure why they asked u to do that. The standard way of recruiting is to fill out one of the application packs by urself and then submit it, if u do well enough on it, ur get an interview. I dunno, maybe they are really short of staff and are quite content giving u job without a proper application

Reply 18

i hope that is the case, ive been looking for a job for so long now, hopefully theyre short of staff although i cant see how this could be since so many students are looking for jobs right now.

btw, whats the pay like for 18 year olds?
