I am currently applying for undergraduate subjects within London region. My question is that does uni ranking means anything? the better reputation, the better employment prospects?

It certainly isn't a direct relationship but yes, it matters. To be clear, rankings themselves are not what matters - perception does. Hiring managers can and will make judgements about people based on where and what they studied. Rightly or wrongly.
