Pushy GP?

Hey
Long version

Back in March I got the contraceptive injection and as such about a week ago I was due to go and have my second one.
However, this time I had to see a different doctor. When I told her why I was there, and after she had read my notes she appeared to be rather alarmed that Id never been on the pill before being given the injection and was speaking as though the other doctor had been incompetant in never having prescribed me the the pill first.

I didnt really know what to say so I explained that I had favoured the injection because I was generally rubbish at remembering to take pills and that it was all a bit inconvienient etc etc.

Anyway she continued acting shocked- and started talking to me about the pill and why I should be taking that instead blah blah blah. I felt really pressurised into opting for the pill instead as she was just going on and on about the advantages of it.

It turned out that I ended up walking out of there with a prescription for a pill I really didnt want to be taking and no injection.

Its been just over a week now and not once have I remembered to take the pill on time, ive come out in spots all over my face and back (yuck) Ive spent most of today crying or no reason and snapping at people, Ive also started bleeding.

This is really unlike me- Ive never had a mood swing before today, Im not an overly emotional person either.

Short version
I use the contraceptive injection usually and went to the doctors last week for a 'top up'. However I had a different doctor to usuall who I felt pressurised me into taking the pill instead. I gave in, have started taking the pill and its having some horrible side effects.

I feel quite angry that I felt under so much pressure to take something I really didnt want to take. Is this the fault of the doctor for being biased towards one method of contraception or my own fault for not standing my ground and flat out refusing?

I also wanted to know if anyone knew wheter or not it would be ok to go and get the injection now when Ive been taking the pill or whether or not Ill have to wait until the pack is finished/ stop taking it before I can swap?

Both, you should have stood your ground, but they also shouldn't have pushed something onto you. Go back and get them to give you the injection, and don't leave until they say yes/schedule it.
