The Student Room Group

Bath Spa Accommodation.

So, we've got to apply for accommodation on the 6th of June. That's next wednesday. Does anyone know where they're going to apply for? I, sure as hell, don't!

I've forgotten nearly everything I learnt about accommodation since i went to visit in February. I remember being quite fond of 'Sydney' because it's en-suite accommodation. But when I asked about how Sydney Court was I was told, by the student showing me around, that it's the "least social" of all the accommodation, and this is to do mainly with the layout of the kitchen and things like that.

We then went to - and this is where my mind goes completely blank! - some other accommodation that looked quite nice, however I can't remember the name of it. This is particularly annoying because this is the one I'm thinking of applying for. The rooms, as far as I could see, seemed to be of a reasonable size. But, what made it really appeal to me was the kitchens. They were located at the topmost part of the building, I think this was, perhaps, the second floor. They seemed fairly spacious, and the students there couldn't speak a bad word about them. They also said they helped a lot with socialising. Which, of course, is a good thing.

I suppose the purpose of this thread could be for people to write their opinions of the accommodation and which they want to apply for. And to hopefully tell me the name of the place I want to apply for, because otherwise I'd a be a bit buggered.

Hrmm, I think you're talking about either Harington, Hiscocks or Pope based on the description on the site.

I'm not sure how many choices you can make, but I'm gonna be putting down Sydney first, then if I can, Waterside Court second. Reaaally want an en-suite, haha.

Yeah, Hiscocks is definately the ones that you describe, and also the ones I liked most. I will apply for anything except Sydeny, Neville and Waterside court.

The thing that sucks is that I have an exam at 9am untill 11 on Friday...which im really annoyed about and hope i dont loose out on what i want because of it...

The sixth of June is on a Wednesday, so hopefully you don't have an exam at that time.

I was thinking about that. But knowing my mum she will mess it up or something, and I will end up living in exactly where I didnt want to for the first year of uni! Gaaah... Do you guys think I may miss out on my first choices (And dont end up in Neville, Sydney or at Waterside) if I apply just 2 hours later than everyone else at 11am?

Won't most people be in a similar situation as you though, having college or exams, or is it study leave now? (I have no idea, haha)

Does anyone know if having an unconditional offer will increase your chances of getting your first choice?

I don't think having an unconditional offer affects your chances (Which is a bit rubbish because i have an unconditional offer too :P) It says in the 'What Happens Next' booklet, "Accommodation will then be allocated online on a first come, first served basis (indicated by the date and time on your application). If we are over subscribed for halls, we will give priority to those living outside a 30 mile radius."

No, I don't think that you will miss out on your first choices. A lot of people that are applying will be in the same situation as you.

Hopefully. :P

Thanks for the reassurance! They must give me it, as I am over 30 miles away(About 200!) I will cry if I'm not on campus, lol...

Yeah, I also saw that.
I guess we do have a slight advantage though, we can go online as soon as it opens since we won't be waiting for any results.

Hopefully I'll get my first choice, a double room in Harrington, Hiscocks or Pope.
Not sure which to go for though, they're all the same aren't they?

Waiting for results? I'll be able to go online at 9am on Wednesday and I've got a conditional offer....

Yes, they are all pretty much the same.

Just out of interest... Why a double? (There's only about 6 in Harrington, Hiscocks and Pope isn't there?)

I was talking about the day they actually dish out the rooms first come first served, which I presume is results day??

My gf and I are both going to Bath Spa so we want a double room, it works out cheaper too.

It's first come first served on 6th June. On results day they just take the people who aren't going out of the equation.

Anyone else having problems with the website? I keep on getting the message "Your student records currently disallow you to book Student Housing." -_-

Are you an EU student? (hmm surrey, i guess not)
My application worked fine and has all gone through however
