No, it doesn't apply.

You are sadly mistaken and the rest of your post is based on this mistake

I would recommend you read the Geneva Convention

But no I am not trolling I am simply saying those who breach peoples Human Rights and those who Breach the Geneva Convention should be punished accordingly.
Original post by BaconandSauce
It is regarding the treatment of captives so it does apply in most of these cases

You seem intent on ignoring the laws regarding the ethical treatment of combatants and the human rights of people

as I said if we want to be better we should enforce the laws we create to make us better than them and this means the sickos who distribute and watch this

But as I said it would be enforceable (it's a simple case of breaching the Geneva convention or Human Rights legislation) and a few cases in the press of people lives being ruined because they are exposed as sickos would be a positive and may make the majority of people think perhaps I shouldn't watch this filth.

You also ignore the fact that most of the people being arrested and thrown in prison for this wouldn't be "sickos", they'd be people who clicked a link on Reddit or Facebook or wherever (because this stuff would be legal everywhere else) and saw something they didn't want to see.

But putting people in prison for doing nothing wrong will obviously stop people doing bad things right????????????????

Really? I always thought that was more of a myth. Even so you could hardly compare stuff like the JFK assassination to that.

It's weird how its filmed on that nice tracking shot though.

No it is unfortunately not a myth.

All the ISIS videos have high production value. It is part of the propaganda.

If the links weren't there (and they shouldn't be) then this would not be an issue

Simple steps like this would help I mean it's not like you find child porn so easily.

As I said they shouldn't be and civilized countries can take some very easy steps to stop this from happening given it is a Human Rights Issue (or Geneva Convention dependent on context)

But I must say your defense of murderous brutality does you proud /sarc

But they will be, because civilized countries aren't going to throw people in prison for such a trivial, ridiculous thing.

You're definitely trolling.
yeah i have, loads. I've always been fascinated by them :erm:
and i think they're a good thing, especially the ISIS ones because they show whats really happening and could make people realise how actually serious it is

You mean civilized countries will continue just ignoring breaches of People's Human Rights and the Geneva Convention

And are human rights and the Geneva Convention really trivial things?

Somehow I don't think that's right at all

tell me about it.
No, I've never watched videos of real-life killings, and have never wanted to. I think it's sad enough to hear that they happen, but I don't need to be disturbed even further by seeing the actual images or footage. I get squeamish from even watching killings and gore in fictional TV.

Read my posts I have already answered this.

"No one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment"

And a picture of someone dead falls under this catergory how? Technically it isn't even degrading. The definition of degrading an individual is "causing a loss of self-respect" how would lose my own self respect if I'm already dead? Besides, the whole debate is stupid and you're just detailing the thread. No one could ever enforce this. And millions have watched documentaries about assasination. Throwing them in jail would be ridiculous. People ae telling you otherwise yet you continue to be deluded.

No idea how any sane person can compare looking at deceased people to child pornography. I've read many stupid posts on this site but this is a new low

Degrading

degradingdɪˈɡreɪdɪŋ/adjectiveadjective: degrading

1.

causing a loss of self-respect; humiliating."the prisoners were subjected to cruel and degrading treatment"synonyms:humiliating, demeaning, shaming, shameful, bringing shame, mortifying, abject, lowering, ignominious, undignified, inglorious, discrediting, wretched; Moremenial; informalinfra dig "claiming benefit can be a degrading experience"antonyms:ennobling

It's not looking at 'deceased' people its watching people getting murdered (would you argue child porn is OK as long as the child is killed at the end of the video I mean after all they are dead so why do they care)

But I can understated why those who watching these would not want them to be compared to watching child porn.

But as I said Human Rights and the Geneva convention are at work here and those watching are breaking one or the other and should be treated accordingly

Terrorism videos are barely similar to any other videos. It shows possibly illegal footage of outrageous crimes. If we keep watching them, surely they will just keep posting them? They want attention! It's disgusting - gruesome deaths of possibly innocent people.

And how exactly does any of that make video of someone's death though degrading? Apart from the odd psycho, no one watches them for the sake of banter. They're usually watched for informative reasons or for proof. I disagree because i dont think it's humiliating at all. I don't see uncensored murders being put on comedy channels and laughed at.

Plus it's all about interpretation of rules. Using your logic I'd argue giving out detentions, a parent scolding their child and (i don't agree with this one but for whatever reason, many do) starring in pornography should be banned. So should video game deaths. And these are just a few examples. They all fit 'degrading' definitions you've provided. Where's the line drawn? Can't a homophobic parent say she's he's being he's being "humiliated" if his child turns out gay?

Then when you factor in the word demeaning, (another apparent synonym for degrading according to your source), suddenly a whole bunch of other people are in trouble too. I see shameful or demeaning stuff on TSR every day. Even in your post history about Muslims and the blacklivesmatter stuff lol.

But the people who made these rules realise they're open to interpretation. Otherwise the rules would contradict. You can't enforce the right to free speech and out a ban on everything "degrading" at the same time.

Really! I stopped after that

as I said it's my opinion and name calling etc will do little to change my mind

I agree with you. I think it should be a criminal offence to distribute them, and also to possess them knowingly, just as it is with child pornography. They are what used to be called "snuff movies". Several years ago, before Youtube, there was some public discussion as to whether such films existed or whether their existence was imaginary. It was possible to have that discussion because most people hadn't seen one and the criminals involved in making them weren't going to admit it. Now they are mainstream. It doesn't stop being a snuff movie just because the newspapers tell you about it and you can get it sent to you along an internet connection provided by Vodafone or the Post Office without either you or them being raided by the police. What really scares me is there's so little debate about whether that's a good situation. I mean is anyone going to post to this thread, even, to say that it's good, or that it's the "price of freedom"? It's horrendous, is what it is.

errrr why? i'd like to see more thanks, I wanna know what's actually going on in the world pls, it's interesting.
Yes, I've seen loads

name calling? And i find it very hypocritical for someone who goes on TSR to shitpost about muslims and blacklivesmatter issues to call anything degrading
