I guess it varies according to the school but I think it's usually all the results in envelopes laid out on long tables and you go in and find yours and there are teachers there. That's how mine worked anyway!
So when you get given your grade, is it split into coursework/exam, or is a percentage, or just a letter?

And hi, btw

from what i know, they can only get it on the same day as our deputy says how he always phones into the office to see how is english set does and if any of us get a B, we're dead lol

Is it true the schools receive the results a day before? But they're not allowed to give them to us until the 23rd itself?

Not sure about GCSEs, but for the January A level modules our school received the results the afternoon before 'results day' but they weren't allowed to tell us our results. We got them the next morning, so I assume that the GCSEs work the same way?
We had to write our address on an envelope a couple of weeks ago, so ours are being sent to us, by the looks of it. But we still have to go into school though (bloody papers and TV...).

i had a dream last night about finding that maths cd samy was on about and a load of maths past papers in my teachers cupboard for the maths exam.. but i got a B in english literature, lol my timescale is messed up o-0
u should be thinking about ur exams rite now - but i will probably go one day early and try to get a teacher to tell me the result
It will depend on the school, but ours was in the cafeteria from I think about10.30-12.30. There was a long table split it into sections for different letters of the alphabet according to your surname and you just went up to the relevamt teacher/secretary, told them your name and they gave you your results. What you get depends on the exam board and subject. I just got overall grades for most subjects, but my UMS marks for each exam and piece of coursework for English and English lit and my overall exam and coursework marks for maths. If you were staying on for sixth form, you had to speak to the head of sixth form briefly just to confirm your subject choices if your results were good enough or change them if they weren't. Other than that, it's really up to you how long you stay. Some people like to see all their friends and compare results, whereas others just pick up their results and get the hell out of there :p: Most of your teachers will probably be there.

Do you get separate envelopes for the different boards?

I guess that depends on your school. They'll probably be in the same one... Our school types up all the results onto one sheet and puts them in with all the ones from the different exam boards, hope that helps

Yeah, that's how my school did it as well. 1 envelope, 1 sheet from the school with all subjects and grades and 1 official results slip from each exam board.
Apparently in my school, everyone's results are layed out on tables in the hall in alphabetical order. We then have to go to the head to sign off that we've collected our results.

(God I had butterflies just typing that...)

For me personally it was a case of walking in, collecting results, opening results, collating with friends, leaving.
