Art Design and Craft A-level is a very broad course which allows you to specialise in any Art discipline, from graphics to fashion, textiles and fine art. However, a lot of Sixth-forms can be restrictive either because the teacher is not confident in other disciplines, and therefore will not allow you to specialise in them, or they have a prescriptive scheme of work which may restrict you to a specific discipline. Also there may be variations between different exam boards (I only really know about WJEC). So before you make your decision go to the respective Art, Design and Craft as well as Graphics teachers at your school/ college and ask them how the course is structured - how much freedom you are given, is it brief led, can you specialise (and more so for the Art, Design and Craft course), could you focus on graphics if you choose to. Are both courses A-level or are either of them a BTEC?
