Whats the deal with spelling mistakes? Is the rule of thumb if the examiners knows what the word is which is spelt incorrectly your given the benefit of the doubt?? anyone? Forgot to ask my teacher this

Of course they're not going to penalise you, unless you do something really dumb like write "meitosis".

As long as it is clear what you mean, they shouldn't penalise you. The word has to look or sound like the reall thing or you'll get it wrong.
