Daughter is eligible for a Ogden Trust Physics scholarship if she goes to a physics degree this year, but the PS section of the application is worrying her.
She feels it needs to be more detailed than her UCAS PS about why she wants to study (Theoretical Physics) but it is vague about what it needs to cover too.

Has anyone applied for one that could give any tips?

    Thank you

Looking at the guidance your daughter is right that it needs to differ from her UCAS PS - but possibly not in the way she thinks.

"Please give details of your extra-curricular hobbies and interests, any representative honours, any voluntary or charity work, and also state if you would use an Ogden Trust Scholarship fora particular purpose. If you have already prepared your UCAS personal statement, you mayattach it in addition to what you write below."

That says that she needs to include awards and honours etc that would normally be included in her UCAS reference and not her PS and that the PS should be more focused on her outside interests and activities away from physics, her previous interactions with the Ogden Trust and how she thinks the money will be used.

Her UCAS PS should cover why she wants to study the course she's applying for. The Ogden Trust PS is about why she deserves the money (and so should be singing her own praises more than a UCAS PS) and what she will use it for.

Thanks, I guess they want well rounded physicists rather than just single focussed students in some ways as it might help the outreach
