    So the structure in the box is the correct answer but I've no idea how to get that

    So I assume you know the standard Bromination of Benzene, meaning that you know a compound which has Bromine in it can attach to a Benzene ring using a halogen carrier. I actually remember doing this question and in the parts before it asks about Bromination.

    You should be able to identify that FeBr3 is a halogen carrier, so you know that Bromine must be involved somewhere
    If you then looks at the differences between the molecules and know that it's that almost-ring-like structure which thus needs to be added with Bromines on the end

    I do get the structure sort of, I'm just so confused as to why it's opening, I probably would've drawn the same thing but with a closed structure.
