Rearranging Formulas

Ok, I have my GCSE non-calculator maths exam on Monday and I cannot for the life of me rearrange formulas. I can do simple ones like:
5t=u+v - make u the subject.
But I can't do the really 'complicated' ones with square roots in them and stuff.
Really I was just wondering if there is a particular way to go about rearranging or if it is just random every time. Also if anyone has any worksheets on their computer or something with questions and answers that I could use - could they send them to me. If no-one has any sheets could someone maybe pm me a few questions with explanations on how to do them so that I can have a go but see where I went wrong!
Thanks in advance.

Do the reverse of BIDMAS, or whatever word you learnt. Locate the term you want on its own. Move any addition or subtraction over to the other side. Then any multiplication or division. Then any powers. Leave any brackets around your term until last; if you end up with your term and another term in a bracket on one side alone, do SAMDIB (made that up :P) again.

Hey.

Don't panic about it, I feel like the worksheets I have here for you will help :smile:

Let me know how it goes, it does it step by step.

Thank you the worksheets were very helpful! I think I vaguely understand now! In the exam I will try and if it all goes wrong 1) I don't get marks taken off for wrong answers so I have nothing to lose. 2) I will use BIDMAS! So just quickly - how do you know whether to take it as BIDMAS or do SAMDIB?!?!?!
Thanks again

BIDMAS is for normal stuff with all numbers. Use the reverse when rearranging to get an unknown out of a mess of algebra

Hey what are you doing now?

As OPs last activity was in 2009, I don't think they will respond. Also its against TSR rules to bump old threads. could you close it, thanks:smile:
