Before I do my PGCE, should I try to become a Teaching assistant for one year, or just get general experience being in schools observing lessons etc.

Which is easier to get + how?
Which would be regarded better by PGCE recruitment agencies?

Is it possible to do both?

I just replied to your other post.

I would try applying for teaching assistant jobs. You would rack up lots of experience and be earning (although it's not much).

Thank you for both replies. Yes I think this will be my option.

It is what I am doing. The last few months have been great. I would really recommend it.
