Sore Throat - Remedies Needed

Hey since last friday i've been feeling horrible - headachey, queasy and a bit of a sore throat. Went to the docs on mon and got penicillin which wasnt doing much good so i went back on wednesday and was assured it would help.

Im starting to feel a bit better overall but my throat has been getting steadily worse and now its incredibly painful. I've tried salt water gargles, strepsils, throaties and some cough mixtures which are supposed to help the throat but nothings been working.

So basically (i know it took a long time, didnt it) what i'm asking is if anyone has any home remedies or something that they think will help my throat because i really need to revise for these exams?????

Right here you go.
One promise you need to make me. Don't kiss anyone after this ok?
Right get some savoy cabbage and cook it with garlic and butter, then let it cool down. Heat up some oxtail soup and throw in the cabbage, butter and garlic mixture. Works wonders ^^ I'm not just saying this but it actually works lol. Reckon it's to do with the garlic

Warm honey and lemon possibly add some brandy?

Ben and Jerry's!
Mends everything from broken hearts to sore throats

Ginger is great. Try eating crystalised root ginger, you can get it at places like Holland and Barret, i was skeptical, like all herb remedies, but it does actually work. Its a natural antiseptic apparently, and it is soothing. Ginger beer is ok, but nowhere near as strong.

Gargle asprin dissolved in water ;thumbsup;

Strepsils are rubbish.

I seem to have a sore throat every other week (I think I need to get my damn tonsils whipped out), and here are my top tips:
Tyrozets (awesome throat lozanges, kick the crap out of all others)
Camomile tea (won't cure, but is immensely soothing on a sore throat)

I've got the same thing and am getting worried as I am unable to revise for exams at the moment too! I figure we've just got to wait until the penicillin kicks in, sure it will work eventually! Other than that, I don't think there are any remedies which actually work!! x

i hope you get better soon too  and this penicillin better kick in soon or im going to fail miserably

Whisky or any strong alcohol. Alcohol as everyone knows is used to sterilise things as well as having the advantage of making it easier to sleep. I wouldn't recommend it if you are taking penicillin though as I'm not sure if they mix badly.

gargaling with aspirin works wonders

Lots and lots of hot drinks (tea with honey and lemon is nice), and a trip back to the doctor if you still feel ill on Monday.

Hot honey and lemon (real lemon juice from a lemon works best) is amazing. When I was extremely ill in New York that was the only thing that kept me going!!! Try heavy on the honey - it's antiseptic and feels like it's coating the throat.
And just drink lots.

Make some diluted orange juice (robinsons, or similar) with hot water. It really soothes - works for me!

Try gargling with salt water. It tastes horrible though0
