My dad

I don't see my Dad an awful lot as he is busy working in London and I am busy with college and working about 250 miles away, and we are never realy free at the same times. We talk regularly on the phone but whenever I try and tell him whats happening with me, he always seems to just keep saying 'yeah.....yeah....' while i'm telling him and it's like he's not really listening..... he does this a lot and it makes me wonder if he is actually listening.

Also, he often tells me he will call me back later in the day but never seems to.

We get on great when we do hook up but I don't know if he's like this to everyone on the phone or just me!

I'm not overly bothered, its just a bit annoying. Any suggestions?

you should talk to ur dad, and set some time apart (both of u) to spend time together. If either of u r busy, u have 2 make time, he's still ur dad, and no1 should have to be 2 distant from him. Once u spend time together the first time, make it a regular thing, and when u call each other after u spend time together, i guarantee he'll be saying more than "yeah".

i agree with rishdetish, make the first move, and then once you regularily see eah other, you will be more comfortable around each other, you'd be able to call each other whenever, talk about anything...but build some foundation first..good luck ;-)

From my experience, it's a feature of talking to parents on the phone (which I do pretty much every day that I'm not at home), and if you have discussions face to face, they're usually much more satisfying.
