    was this the aidsy logs mixed exercise? i hate it so much, definitely the most difficult thing out of all the mixed exercises in the book

    so  u=2^x

    in the equation  4^x - 2^{\left(x+1\right)} -15=0

    remember that  4^x = \left(2^2\right)^x = \left(2^x\right)^2

    also remember that 2^{\left(x+1\right)} = 2^x \times 2^1
    from this you should be able to work things out
