    I'm doing a required practical for my As Chemistry. The experiment is:

    "Preparing cyclohexene by the dehydration of cyclohexanol and to distil the cyclohexene from the reaction mixture".

    I found a method for this but it says to add phosphoric acid and Sulfuric acid to cyclohexanol, and then distil it. My question is why do you have to acidify the cyclohexanol?

    If this is PAG 5.1 then your teacher should supply you with a method.

    The teacher will give us a method to follow, but first we have to write our own method, risk assessment, etc
