How long does omeprazole take to work? Watch

I got diagnosed with gastritis recently and have been taking omeprazole for almost a week, I don't feel quite as bad as I did before I starting taking it but I still feel sick after eating and I can't eat more than a few bites of my meals even if I'm absolutely starving. When I swallow my food my chest feels uncomfortable like I need to burp but I can't, and I've also had a sore throat for the past few days. When I lie down in bed at night I often feel like something is coming up my throat and I feel like I'll be sick, only for it to go away once I sit up. I'm guessing this is acid reflux?

If anyone else has used omeprazole for gastritis or something similar, how long did it take for you to really feel the benefit? I'm currently on 20mg once a day.

I really want this to go away because I already suffer from anxiety and this is definitely not helping, and I have exams soon and can't concentrate on my revision because I feel so ill!

This sounds tough for you, a week isn't a long time for medication to work on something like this though so it could improve every day... I would give your GP a call and ask them for what the progression should look like.
