Contact lenses and blurry vision

I just recently got contact lenses a few days ago and i find them absolutely great and quite good however one consistant problem with the contact lenses is that my vision becomes very blurry whilst having them on, I do realise that this might just be down to new contact lenses wearers, but its becoming very annoying at is seriously making me consider going back to wearing glasses. I don't know what to do and whats causing this problem, i have tried cleaning the lenses twice today with solution but that doesnt seem to help. I have asgimatism in both eyes so therefore i have to wear special contact lenses which are the torices one. Please can someone advice me on what I should do? is this a "normal" thing or is there something wrong with the lenses ?(frequency excel toric)

Thanks

I'd say your best bet is to ask your optician.

Well am going to specsavers for my contact lenses checkup on the 12th of june do you think they will let me change my contact lenses if i ask them to do so?

I'd say they'd HAVE to. It's their job to help you and if your lenses are causing you this blurry vision their going to have to sort it.

Just mention it to them, if it's common they'll know what to do and the solutions to the problem.

Oh and I'm glad you said that. Mean nobody can use that horribly predictable joke in response to your first post. :p:

Sounds like the fit isn't quite right. I tried abotu 8 sets of lenses before I managed to get that sorted.

 8 that must have been quite annoying

I used to wear toric lenses before I had laser treatment :P and I used to have the same problem.

It was only a minor problem if my eyes got tired or the lenses dried out etc. How long are you wearing them for, when are you getting the problem?

Make sure your hands are clean and just hold your eye lids open and reposition the contact lens. This usually fixes the problem, try blinking a few times afterwards.

Sometimes though the only solution is to take them out if you've been wearing them for 10+ hours.

Also remember that with toric lenses they can never get the prescription dead accurate unless you have a 'perfect' prescription like -1.5 or -1.75 etc. If you're -1.85 then they will just give you the closest match which would be -1.75 meaning you won't have as good vision as if you were wearing glasses.

My advice, based on my experience is to really go for laser surgery. I had it done about 5 weeks ago and I now have better than 20/20 vision (yes 20/20 isn't perfect like most people think!). I took out the 3 years interest free credit and it works out at just under £100 a month.

You'll be paying £30 a month for 20 pairs of torics anyway so see if your parents can help you out with the extra cost for 3 years and you'll have perfect vision all the time and won't still be paying for lenses in 3 years time.

Just a suggestion though, it's entirely up to you!

I'd say they aren't fitting you as well as they should be, definitely bring it up at your check up and I'd avoid wearing them until them if the problem persists.

I have an astigmatism in one eye and have completely different prescriptions, was paying £24.99 a month with D + A, now paying around £45 for a 3 month supply, fabulous!

I've only just recently got contacts, and they've been ok for me, so maybe you should go back to your optician for advice - it sounds like the ones you have aren't quite right for you.

I first got my contact lenses from Vision Express and had the same problem. I went back to complain but got told nothing was wrong; so obviously I was a bit confused. Ended up going to my tiny, local opticians, who asked me 'Have you considered proper toric lenses for the astigmatism in your left eye?', I was completely confused until I found out that Vision Express had given me ordinary lenses for both eyes. When I went back to them to ask why, they simply said, 'It works out cheaper for you that way'. I obviously didn't want the cheaper option if it wasn't any good for me, so I gave up on Vision Express and chose Costco opticians, who gave me much more suitable lenses for a much lower price.
Obviously this isn't completely relevant, but my point is that you'll need to experiment with quite a few pairs if you're not happy, don't accept what the opticians first give you if it's not right.

I get blurry vision if I wear them for too long. All eyes are different, some just can't handle prolonged contact lens wearage.

How blurry exactly do they get?

Normally with mine (they're daily disposables by the way so they vary slightly) I find they aren't quite as good a prescription match as my glasses, and just accept that. For example I'll not be able to recognise faces in the distance as well as I can with glasses.

Oh. A bit worse than that. Like having to kep rubbing your eyes blurry. Argh.
