I am currently in year 10 studying for iGCSEs. I was wondering if I should drop English Literature because I am currently very stressed out by this particular subject. I joined Year 10 one term later than the others, so I'm having a lot of troubles keeping up. This is my first time learning about poems and analysing them as well as novels. My literature results were not as good as the others in my class. I consulted the teacher and my parents but I can't seem to get the answer I want. I'm planning to study in USA in the future, majoring in Science. Will it affect anything in my future if I dropped literature? I am a competitive person, this subject is already pressuring me but I can't help but not wanting to lose to those people in my year so I sticked with it. What should I do? Besides, I'm afraid it would affect my other subjects, I'm too indecisive and I want to get full As and A*s if I could in iGCSE!

If you want to study in the US then no, I think it would be a mistake to drop the literature. If you want to go to university in the UK then you don't need literature, just language.
