    Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could let me know what I need to do now.

I began university in 2014/15 and my student loan is currently the basic rate one (non income assessed). My dad is to soon be made redundant in the next couple of months. Whilst he does get a 2 year redundancy package my household income is likely to drop dramatically (below the % threshold of student finance) and so I would likely be entitled to a higher loan.

My question is whether the redundancy package will effect this? My parents are planning to use it to pay off other stuff and so I will not benefit from it. At the same time my parents will be earning significantly less and so will I be entitled to more money or will it be cancelled out?

    Thanks

If you ask to be reassessed based on 2016/17 income and your father receives a redundancy payment within that financial year then it will be included in the assessment.
