Atenolol (beta blocker) and Diazepam

I am currently taking atenolol (a beta blocker) for my anxiety and my doctor said if it doesnt seem to work he can try me on a benzodiazepine (probably diazepam) instead. I was wondering what your experiences with beta blockers are? Did they work for you? And what about diazepam?

And also, is diazepam something that you take only when you need it (when your on the edge of a panic attack) or is it one of those things you take every day in the morning?

:tsr2: go go TSR! :tsr2: er yeah :s-smilie:

My mum became semi-paralysed after taking them for a week :frown:

you take diazepam every day... you shouldn't take it for more than ~4 weeks because you develop tolerance to the drug... the major side effect is sedation...

Diazepam is great
I got hit by a car, and had really painful muscle spasms in my back. The doctor gave me 3 weeks worth of painkillers (inc diazepam). I used the whole lot whilst on holiday in lanzerote for a week (with a good amount of booze as well)... I was high as a kite all week, bloody good holiday!
