Hey, I want to become a primary teacher and I was looking at doing a Bachelor of Education degree, but I don't know if there are better courses suited to becoming a Primary Teacher? If so could you suggest some?
I was also wondering which universities are best for education and teaching?
(The only universities I have looked at are Winchester, Gloucestershire, Derbyshire, Plymouth, Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire)
I am only looking at universities within 130 miles of Bradford on Avon in Wiltshire.

You should also look at BA (Hons) Primary Education with QTS which will expand your possibilities eg Oxford Brookes. Have a look on the UCAS site for Universities.

    Best of luck

    Hi Holly,

The most important thing is to find a course and a university that you are happy with. You will be spending 3 years there so it's not a decision to take lightly.

Look at the Unistats rankings for both the course and the universities you are considering. I would also suggest making a list of pros and cons of each course, visit the universities, use social media to look at feedback and talk to current students and don't be afraid to contact the universities directly with specific questions. Looking at the course pages on the university websites in more detail is also really helpful.

This should allow you to compare the pros and cons of each course and narrow down your search.

For instance at the University of Gloucestershire we have several education courses, each with different focuses. We were ranked in the top 10 for student experience (Times University Guide 2016) and a number of
our education courses were ranked 'Outstanding' by Ofsted in 2015.

Hope this helps and good luck with your search!

Maria at the University of Gloucestershire
