Direct services go between Luton Airport and Birmingham International taking about 2hrs 10 minutes according to National Express.

Their journey planner does bring up some other bizaare routes, like going from Luton to Birmingham with a change at Heathrow which is just strange... :s-smilie:, but there are direct options available with no changes.

-.- Oh well....

Naaaarrrr! I SWEAR it was Starbucks that ran them!

Your not that far away from the truth! OK not Starbucks but NX operate very few of their services and instead franchise them out to local bus companies.

National Express

Although all the ones I took are sort of codeshares, with Eurolines coaches (which are all Spanish for some reason :dontknow:)

Well NX Group does own Alsa, the Spanish domestic coach network, could be related...

Since Skins was on, every time I hear Mega Bus I think of "MegaDog to the rescue!"

To whoever asked where in London they drop you off...

The 'main' terminus are both in Victoria. NX goes from the main Victoria coach station, whereas Megabus goes from the Greenline Victoria Coach Station.

NX can also give you all the options, usually Marble Arch, Golders Green etc.

When I went to a Leeds open day a few months ago my friend and I had to get a coach because my other friend who was supposed to be driving us let us down at the last moment and to get a train at that point would have costed £100 plus return which was not really an option.

Anyway it was too long a journey to go back and forth in one day so we had to go London-Manchester on Megabus after school, stay with my friend's gran overnight, National Express to Leeds at ungodly hour and then Megabus it home from Leeds. Whole journey cost £16 each and would have been less had we booked it earlier.

Bear in mind Megabusses can be just what it says on the tin- a bus. A 5 hour journey to Manchester on a double decker bus (think a London bus painted blue) was not much fun but then again I would rather suffer for a few hours than fork out extortionate train fares. National Express was comfier and had air con and I hear if you book in advance there is not much price difference between MB and NE. Coach back from Leeds was actually a single decker coach but broke down and we had to change coach at Watford Gap. Fair play to them though coach was waiting for us when we got there and we actually arrived back early. I would use either company again if I needed to (i.e. if they were significantly cheaper than the train) but NE has the edge in terms of comfort.

I find megabus' and National Express about the same but you can tell that Megabus' are cheaper.

Victoria Station is the one they go from... I got one from Manchester to London on Wednesday and it was pleasant enough for a coach journey lol.

I prefer National Express but I can live with Megabus, if you're in a group Megabus is okay 'cause you just all sit together, we did London > Portsmouth and there were four of us, and that was fine, but we did London > Sheffield which was four hours & the bus was packed so we had to all sit at the back & it wasn't very comfortable for that length of time, also coming back from Sheffield Megabus has come down from Edinburgh first so there were hardly any seats & we ended up two of us right behind the driver with no leg room & that wasn't majorly comfortable...
If I'm on my own I much prefer National Express, it's more comfortable & the people on it tend to scare me less, but going back London > Portsmouth on my own after Sheffield was alright, I went in October though & I ended up on a bus full of students so everyone was just talking to everyone which was nice.
I'm doing megabus London > Leeds with a friend in a couple of weeks, but it should be alright.

What I will say in megabus' favour, they tend to get you to the destinations early, NE tend to get you there late.
But if you're going a long distance it's better to get National Express funfares, 'cause if you've got a connection buying an extra funfare each way in case you miss one works out just as cheap as Megabus because you don't have to pay a booking fee.

Oo I wrote a lot, lol, but I've been frequenting both for over a year.

NE London > Birmingham has leather seats, that's always nice ^_^
