Sup, did exactly the same, you and I both integrated the value before the brackets right? You're not meant to do that, if you carried on and multiplied it by 50 then we'll probably get W for method marks

When integrating, a constant value which applies to the whole integral can be put outside of the integral before integrating :smile:

Oh crap I remember learning that but that didn't come up in any of my textbooks (retaker). Oh well.

With the sin graph translation did you guys move it 3 units down. There were no brackets so I was unsure?

It actually comes up much more in C3 - surprised it was put into C2

Yeah it was strange without brackets. I believe it was translating 3 units down though

guys for that question with "f(h+5) - f(5)/h" could you assume that h represents the the change in x and so when when x=5 the change in x would be 0 and so u sub that into the simplified "h+8" to geit "0+8" which gives you 8, the answer???? or am i way off

So then wouldn't the answer be a = 12.7? Because the unofficial markscheme says a = 8.96

r^2/2 x Theta = a^2/2 x sin(theta)

Sub values in:

144/2 x 0.8 = a^2/2 x Sin (0.8)

(288/5)/sin (0.8) = a^2/2 ---> 80.2948504 = a^2/2

160.5897008 = a^2

a = 12.67 = 12.7 (3 sig figs) ?

A:

Q:
given that f(x) = x^2 - 2x
find (f(5+h) - f(5))/h

A:
sub 5+h for x:
(5+h)^2 - 2(5+h) = 25+10h+h^2 -10 -2h = 15 +8h +h^2
minus f(x) sub 5 for x:
15+8h+h^2 - (25-10)= 8h+h^2
Divide by h:
8 + h

Q:
gradient at x=5

A:
deltay/deltax = 8 + h
as h tends to 0, gradient tends to 8, so dy/dx = 8


I left it as 8h+8h^2 :frown:
At first I couldn't see why you did that then I saw it was in the original equation, made so many stupid mistakes like this!

You're not meant to divide by sinx. You had to bring it all over to one side and then take the brackets so
Sinx(4sinx-1)=0
Sinx=0 and Sinx=1/4

Come to think of it, I think I remember learning that from C3 and not in C2. Weird.
Does anyone have a picture of the paper? Or at least the first few? I wanna see the wording of the sequences question for question 2... Threw me off a bit :curious:

I got this! Because I had -logaA^3m which simplified to -3mlogaA which gives -3m, right?
