I know. I feel like rap music is the new rock and roll, but all they sing about is having a **** load of money and ass. Absolutely no meaning (apart from ASAP occasionally).

It makes even the emo days seem desirable. There are no decent British rock bands anymore.

I was expecting Jimi Hendrix or Queens of the Stone Age kind of rock and roll. The disappointment is strong in this thread

Rap music used to be all I listened to when I was younger, now my music taste is much more diverse and I never listen to rap music now. Although I acknowledge that there is a huge difference in quality from certain rap artists, such as Tupac, Eminem, and Nas compared to the likes of 2 Chainz, Wiz Khalifa etc. Basically anyone on the Young Money label is awful

prog rock mostly died with the 80s, and as such the creativity died as well.

For a dose of modern rock with an old school inspiration check out Brian Fallon's new album "Painkillers" which was released last month. Great lyrics, catchy guitar work, addictive choruses, and an authentic sound. Here's a couple of my favourite tracks off it ...
