    The new ucas tariffs are just confusing and don't make sense. I'm doing BTECs and when I type in DDM it says it's 96 points but when I type DDD it's also the same points?? Also when I type in BBB it's a number in the 70s ?. This isn't fair because each higher grade does make a difference.

    This is one confusing with the added confusing that most uni websites I have been on are looking for atleast 104 points, this just makes it difficult for students to get into uni as it already is. For example, I looked on the Manchester Met university and searched on many courses they had and they all wanted atleast 104 points. How the hell is this even working? For someone who got 3 straight B grades applying won't be able to get into the uni because the points are high especially since Manchester met uni is not even a high ranking uni.

    Someone please tell me if this new UCAS is like this and unfair on students. Also why having the grades DDM and DDD are the same tarif points when each grade makes a difference??

    Which BTEC are you selecting? And why are you typing in grades? The UCAS tariff calculator has drop down options for grades.

    https://www.ucas.com/ucas/undergradu...iff/calculator

    BTEC Extended Diploma
    DDD = 144 points
    DDM = 128 points

    A BTEC Diploma DD = 96 points

    BBB at A level will be 120 points

    DDD in 3 subsidiary diplomas is 144 points. You have to click ADD for the third diploma for that grade to be included in the total.
