Strange friend situation

Ok basicly at uni i have a pretty large group of friends, theres one girl though who i would consider my best friend and we pretty much tell each other everything.
Now we all think that shes started to see this other guy in our group which we have no problem with, they always got on well and did the whole friendship hugs thing a lot. Thing is they havnt told us not a single person, and before hand she was telling me for quite a while that she really didnt fancy him and hoped that he didnt fancy her.
I dont no what to do, do i confront her, im quite angry that she didnt tell me because i thought that we told each other these kinds of things, or do you think that im over reacting.
Neither of them have had a serious relationship before which might be a reason but we still see no reaosn why they should want to keep it secret from us.

ive you've a close knit group of mates and 2 people start dating within that, it can totally change the dynamics of the group. Keeping it a secret lets the group carry on as normal.

For example, at the moment you probably see everyone in the group the same amount of times a week. But those will wanna spend more time together, and more importantly alone. then they will share things together that others in the group probably didnt know... they'll talk about the group when alone together and some others in the group might not be comfortable with that.

the worst comes if they slit up... people take sides, stories will be told / exaggerated about how they split up and the group can fall apart becuase of it and the awkward moments created as a result.

OK i know i've taken it a bit far but it can turn out like that, i've been there.

Think also that they probably want their privacy. As you say, usually you tell each other everything in the group but perhaps this they want to work out between themselves, see if it will actually even work, before announcing to the group and it falling flat on its face a couple of weeks later.

It sounds to me like they're not actually an item,since you and your friend tell each other everything and she says she doesn't fancy him etc (assuming shes telling the truth).You might just be jumping to conclusions?
Just my take on the story.
