What should I do? My mum is making me go into the path of being a secondary teacher. My true passion is history and I really want to get a PhD in it one day. However, I also want to do Archaeology as well as History, but my mum disagrees and will not let me do Archaeology. What should I do?

Apply for what degree you want, forget your Mum. She can't physically stop you from applying for a degree, she has no power in it. Do NOT do a degree you KNOW you won't be happy with, it's a miserable miserable 3+ years if you do. Apply for what you want, lie if you have to.

Your mum can't physically make you do what she wants you to. It's your life, your decisions. You do what you want to do. Parents often think they know best however in this case, she may not. All you can do is tell her that you appreciate what she says on the matter and her advice however you have other plans and ambitions.

Tell you won't live a happy life as a secondary school and if she really cared about you, she'd want you to be happy. Just go for that career path if she still says no anyway lol

Do what you want. I'd imagine you'd be able to teach with a combined degree anyway so tell her you're not writing it off but you want to study this subject. 3 years down the line you can make whatever decision makes sense for you then, plenty of people change their mind in 3 years and your mum will probably relax a little bit about allowing you to make your own choices!
