    Hello,
I've decided to look into mental health nursing (specifically Plymouth) but I am unsure what the placement hours are like. Are they similar to say midwifery where you would be on placement 24/7 flexible rota? Or are they days? If anyone could shed some light I'd be truly grateful.

It would depend on where your placements were. If you were in the community, where a lot of mental health care takes place, this would probably be 8 or 9am til 4 or 5pm. If you were working in an inpatient setting, such as a Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit, then you will be expected to do a 24/7 rota. Some universities also give their mental health nursing students an adult-based placement, in which case this would also probably be a 24/7 shift pattern.

    Hope that helps
