    Hey I'm 17 and a guy.
    I'm chatting to a guy who is 21 and about to graduate.
    I'm thinking of asking him on a date.

    Is this gap too big?

    You are correct. However, I'm pretty sure there's something about over 18s in this law. I could be wrong.

    Anyway, 40 odd and 16 is just a tad bit wrong anyway.

    No, there's nothing about over 18s in this law. 16 is the age of consent.
