I got rejected (before interview might I add lol) because my AS grades were AAAC, despite the fact I wasn't going to carry-on the subject I got a C in... I got offers from all my other places though
I had an interview on AS grades ABE. I got an unconditional on AAC. It probably wasn't your grades.
Perhaps they just made the mistake of being honest.
Well that's just it. They were perfectly right. I'm sorry to say But that isn't the point. Its just unecessary and easily avoided. Letters like that can really harm a person's confidence!

;console; What college did you apply to? What were your GCSE grades?

I applied to Worcester (after orginally wanting to go for CCH) - my GCSEs were A*A*AAAAABBB - although I don't think it would've been the GCSE grades, my sister is at Oxford and she got the same!
'cos everybody is dying to go to Oxbridge, of course!
Well, maybe not everybody is dying to go there, but it's not completely unreasonable for any university to to assume that applicants generally prefer offers and will be disappointed to get a rejection...

Indeed. Muso's words were 'how unbelievably disappointed I must be', which just would have been overdoing it if they actually said as much.

Well, yes, maybe they did go a bit overboard on the whole softening-the-blow thing. I'd still say that's better than a rude "You just weren't good enough. Tough."-type of rejection, though.
