Hi there I'm an international student and I have 2 conditional offers and I haven't firmed or insured anything. I'll need a Tier 4 student visa to study in the uk but I'm unsure when to apply for it. I visited the web and it says 3 months before the course starts, which would be in June, right? But the problem is the results day of my country is in July and i have to wait till August when the uk a levels results are published and the uni decide whether to give me an unconditional firm. This leaves only less than a month for me to apply for the visa, apply for accommodation, plan the flight to uk, etc. And if I miss the offer, I may be released into clearing, which I have to spend time to find a course which further limits the time I have.🙄🙄🙄
So the question is, when can I apply for the tier 4? Does every non-uk or EU student have to rush like that?🤔

Yes it is a bit of a rush.

As I understand it you need your firm university to issue you a CAS and to include the CAS details in your application.

If you meet your offer then you won't have to wait until August - your university should make your offer unconditional and issue you with a CAS.

Visa applications should only take 3 weeks so even in August this means a busy summer but not a delay to starting. If there are problems that delay your application universities will often arrange for you to arrive partway through the first month of study.

You should be able to apply for accommodation now. I'd suggest going for slightly pricier flights with a good cancellation/rearrange policy.

So if I don't meet the offer, I'll have to wait till August, and if they decline me, I will have to go through clearing and it will become extra rushed? Waoh that's scary I don't even know where my final destination will be so flights cannot be booked until last moment🙄🙄🙄 it seems so likely that I will arrive there late😭

The UK isn't that big, so you could book flights to an airport convenient for your firm, but with good railway links, then get a train to a different city if you need to.

If you don't get accepted into your firm or insurance and you're worried about the rush to get a visa and organise accommodation, would it be better to consider taking a gap year and applying to universities on your gap year? This would give you lots of time to organise your visa and flights.

hello! I am an international student currently applying for a Tier 4 visa. My university has given me my unconditional offer, CAS number and everything. It's just that accommodation has not been allocated yet (from the uni website it seems like it will only be allocated mid Aug) and in my application form for the visa I have to put in the address, contact details etc. of the place I will be staying... so I'm not sure what to fill in?

Do I have to wait till mid Aug to submit my visa application?? I think that would be too late - or can I put the address of a hotel? (Because my dad will be accompanying me for a day or two, and he will likely be staying at a hotel) Thanks!

Contact the International Team at the university you have your CAS from and ask what address they recommend you use.

For the tier 4 visa, they do a visa interview, does anyone know what kind of questions they would ask ?
