Where does Nottingham stand compared to other universities? It is ranked in the low 20s in UK rankings but I've been told by family and friends it's extremely good? Is it a good idea to firm and hope for the best or will it continue its decline?
    Kind regards

I think more information on your circumstances would be benefit us in giving a more efficient and accurate answer.

What is your current grade potential, what are you studying, what other universities have you applied for.

But I also have to say, do not live and die by the league tables, they mean nothing more than some theorised and marketing ideology that really misinterprets what it means to be educated. Go with what you think is right, the city that feels right and the university that excites you the most. FOLLOW YOUR HEART.

The university standing won't make a difference in the end as it comes down to your effort. It comes down to those individual lecturers and their capabilities and the whole league tables aren't based on them alone. They're based on results but there is more to university than results.

Generally speaking, it's seen as a good Russell Group university. It used to be top 10 (over 10 years ago). I think that's why your family members said Notts is extremely good. Meanwhile Notts has lost its prestige a bit for several reasons (such as size inflation and deteriorating security in Nottingham), but still courses like Economics are highly regarded by employers. I don't know your other options and subject, so I can't answer whether you should firm it or decline it. I think you had better ask someone here.
