this question was not on the June 2004 paper which we did(Original post by magiccarpet)
does ANYONE remember a last part of the last ques saying something like
'say how to identify leucine and glycine. include a diagram of any apperatus you need and any calculations you'd do.' 6 marks
at first i was glad i wasnt the only person to missed it out, but this is just silly. someone must have done it?
it was the last question of the June 2003 paper

im certain i read it, it was nearly the same as the june 03 one, but it said 'draw a diagram' and 'show any calculations you would do'. i sure i missed it out, i think there may have been a double blank page before it. but then someone surley would have done it? i will be so glad if im confused with a mock ppr or something cos if it was on our ppr it was worth 6marks!

I don't think it was on the paper unless there was a huge cockup with the paper. -

no i read through the whole paper right at the start every single page even checking the blank pages cos i heard ppl often run out of time on chem 6. i then did the paper, but it was so DAMN hard i forgot i'd read the last ques. but i usually turn over the last page just to check ive finished, so im guessing the electrode ques was followed by a double blank page. im sure this must be how i missed it. i added up my marks of the ques i did right and it came to 33, which i thought was a bit low but i didnt check it was out of 60. then when i came out of the exam and we were talking about it i suddenly remebered OHNO!! i didnt do that ques!! because at the start i remeber planning the answer for it.
im fairly certain it was on the paper, but i think the electrode ques was followed by a double blank page so me and all of you thoght it was the end of the exam. im going to school (YAY!JOY!) to return some books next week so i'll try to get a copy of it. -

oh yea i forgot, i think theres usually 4 ques on the chem synoptics. they are usually out of 11-16 marks. ques 4 had:
the electrode graph 3marks
the equations 2-4 marks
the observations 2 marks
this doesnt add up to at least 11 so there has to have been another part -

*sigh*
Specimen = 6 questions 10 marks each
June 2002 = 4 questions
June 2003 = 4 questions (leucine/glycine Q at end)
June 2004 = 5 questions
These 5 were:
identification of organic compound
Nickel question
Born Haber Cycle
organic synthesis questions about glycine being converted into something
Electrode potentials. -

Probably around the same as that, maybe a mark or two higher or lower. -

How did people do on this paper? I thought I'd failed and did very well. Did you do better than expected? I might get it back just to look at my raw marks!

Got 101/120, which was about as well as I thought I had done. Smacked the food science paper though, 86/90.

amazing crana!
I only got 110/120 - but seeing as I was expecting 55 I'm happy. I'm thinking of getting the paper back for a look at which questions I did well in, but can't decide if it is a waste of money or not. The raw to UMS conversion will be interesting! -

i thought i'd get raw marks 28-33/60 i was expecting a D, which i really needed to get an A overall. although i knew i'd f**d up the paper bad, i still was so sure i'd get at least a D.
what i actually got was 42/120, an ungraded (U).i totally can accept this if i really did that badly, but im getting the paper back (£8.50), and possibly a remark (£30 but refunded if mark is changed) just to be sure. otherwise my unit marks go AAAAAU which looks so so wrong, and means i got a B rather than an A overall.i hate edexcel.
i will love to know if anyone has any idea of the grade boundaries for the paper, so i can see if this mark is right. did you all get slightly lower than what you thought?or is it just me?? -
