I hear that there isn't going to be UMS anymore.

What's the reasoning behind this? Will there be anything to replace it? What's going to happen with all those universities that had a UMS threshold as their entry requirement? How will grade boundaries be affected?

UMS is only necessary to enable results from separate modular unit exams to be combined and maintain consistent standards. If A levels are linear with all exams taken in one sitting at the end of the course then UMS is no longer required. Examiners will set grade boundaries for each exam series after analysing results.

The few universities who have used AS UMS as a predictor of success on their courses will use other criteria in their decision process, check their web sites for details.
