I'm trying to get to the bottom of why I have bad breath... (serious responses please)

Could it be that it's because I only brush my teeth in the mornings? I brush very thoroughly but only once a day...

Could it be because I don't floss often?

Could it be because I don't use mouthwash?

I tend to buy chewing gum often, so I've never addressed this issue properly...

    Hi,

You should brush at least 3 times a day. Perhaps straight after eating on each occasion? Flossing helps too, but failing to floss won't directly cause bad breath… Mouthwash helps! Chewing gum doesn't, though. It's like air freshener, you can spray an offensive odour with air freshener, but it'll only last so long. Have you tried brushing your tongue too? Bacteria can build up there and leave things smelling rather unpleasant…

I have also moved this to Health, in the hope you get more responses!

    Try brushing your tongue also.
Gets most of the debris, bacteria and dead cells getting lodged, off it

I brush my teeth after each meal.
Logic suggests you should have something after a meal to neutralize the ph and sugar in your mouth before brushing, hence chewing gum, cheese or some other alternative.
