    Hello,

Does anyone here take the OCR GCSE Computing Course? In the two controlled assessments, I was given an A; my teacher said there is no way for me to increase the grade to an A* and that I have to get 79/80 on the exam at least, if I am to get an A* for the final grade.

If anyone took the controlled assessments and received an A*, could you post advice on how to attain the grade? I am really confused and worried.

I got 44/45 for A453 (still doing A452) so hopefully this'll be of some use

Most of the marks come from the writeup so you need to be very detailed (for task three alone I wrote 6k). I always start with a breakdown of the task, the different ways I could solve it, the way I am choosing to solve it (with justification). Then I do my algorithms, variable table, success criteria. With my developmental testing I think I went overboard but I took screenshots of every procedure I coded as I did it, said what it did and explained any problems I had and how I overcame them. Then I do a test plan and final testing, with an evaluation at the end. My evaluation looks at each succes criteria and says how I've been successful in achieving them, and I also explain any overall difficulties and improvements I could have made

There's always a way for you to improve it, a shame your teacher isn't helping you with that

Vanilla Cupcake is right, most marks do come from the write up. I also do computing and I got A for task 1,2,3 and 41 for the MitAPP task which I think is A*. My teacher told me that in your write up the examiners like to see signs of improvement so feel free to mention any mistakes you made and how you improved on them. I think controlled assessment is 60% of the final grade so in the exam even if you get a D you could come out with a B if your controlled assessment is A*. Not that you're aiming for a B but just to give you an idea of how much controlled assessment affects your grade.

Im really struggling with some parts of this coursework:

1(c) Plan, design and dry run a program for the Little Man Computer (LMC) that produces the same result using a fixed number of 10 iterations.

1(f) Change the program so that the number of iterations can be controlled by the user.

2(c) Plan and write a program for LMC that would produce the same results.

It would be really grateful if you help me out on how to do these question.

    Thanks.
