Filling in the finance form

I know this is a stupid question, so I apologise in advance, but I'm finally filling in my student finance form (PN1) and I was wondering how you're supposed to mark the yes/no answers? For each there's a box with Y and a box with N - if you're answering yes, do you put a cross in the Y box, or a tick, or circle it, or do you cross out the N box, or what? What did you guys do? Sorry to ask but don't want to mess it up! Thanks!

Just tick the yes..and leave blank the no
