Is there anyone on here who does combined English Literature and French at Durham? How are you finding it?

I was wondering if you are usually able to pick the modules you want (albeit less of them from each course), as I would be really interested in doing the Classical and Biblical Backgrounds to English Literature, Old French,Androgynes, Witches and Monsters in the French Renaissance, and Evolution and the Human in French Culture. With compulsory modules and timetabling, is there very little choice?

Also, I've been reading stuff about Durham students having really high GCSE grades, someone somewhere said 8A*s for English was the norm. Do you have any idea what the 'normal' grade profile of an English and French student is, and what grades would be too low to realistically consider applying?
