hey,

The grade boundaries will not have been set yet. Once all the papers have been marked, the grade boundaries are set depending on how well people did.

For Last Years Edexcel GCSE Maths Higher Tier Non Calc Paper, the grade boundaries were as follows:

A*: 69%
A: 51%
B: 33%
C: 16%

The Calc boundaries were:

A*: 85%
A: 65%
B: 40%
C: 21%

Hope thats useful

Have seen elsewhere that the figure is 75% for last year.

I think the grade boundaries will be much higher for non-calculator this year.
To be fair, it was a relatively easy paper!
(Thank you Edexcel lol )

I'd reckon they'd be something like this after sitting Paper 5 yesterday:

85% - A*
65% - A
45% - B
25% - C

I know you want Edexcel grades, but here is What the AQA board are doing:
(This is copied from the AQA Paper 1 thread from a post I origianly created) http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/showthread.php?t=402007

Hi,
Noticed that a lot of people on this forum are interested to see what the boundary mark for today’s paper was. The fact is that the boundary marks are only set after all the papers have been marked. They change from year to year but you can get a rough idea by looking at the trends below. Below are the boundaries from the past three years on both the intermediate (grades E-B) and higher (grades C-A*) papers. ALL past grade boundaries can be seen on the examiners reports for each series at the end of the report. Just go on past papers, select topic and then select examiners report on the left hand side.

Hope this info helps. I also sat the higher exam today and found it both challenging and rewarding. Hope my grade reflects that!

Below are the tables, the collumns correspond with the above grades - hope this is made clear

I did the OCR intermediate Paper, I would say pretty high, the non calculator paper was pretty easy, last year for a C, it was 43/100.

http://www.edexcel.org.uk/VirtualContent/50013/1387_GCSE_Mathematics_rep_20060817.pdf

It's on page 53 of the PDF (Edexcel call it pg 51 but thats not including 2 introduction pages before the contents.

A lot of people have said that they cannot get onto the Grade Boundaries on the Edexcel Website. On the examiners reports, the grade boundaries for that examination are shown at the end. That is the link for the 2006 Edexcel GCSE Maths A.

how high do you think the grade boundaries will be this year? I'm hoping to get a B overall....I think I got at worst 70% on Monday  .....hate it when my mind goes blank and then comes back to life when I get out of the exam hall!!! oh well....

Reply 12

Unfortunately, I see it higher, because many people in my school, it was really easy, especially the non calculator, if I was to predict, I would say 66% for a B, that's how much it was last year.

Reply 13

66% for non-calculator last year was an A*, not a B...

I reckon they'll be just above average so 85% for A*, 65% for A...etc.

Reply 14

I'm talking about the OCR Intermediate Paper, not higher.

Reply 15

anyone thought of the sensible thing to do...

take last year past paper and grade boundaries, see how easy you found last year relative to this years and then tell us what they think the dif in grade boundaries will be

last years paper was VERY easy if i rember correctly. i might rember wrong

Reply 16

no, wait im thinking of 05 lol

Reply 17

ive heard that 60% is A and 40 or 45% is B for maths edexcel paper 1387

Reply 18

Hmmm,

I do think that this years Edexcel Higher paper was harder than last years, ive been having a flick through it. However, I don't think that the grade boundaries are going to be massivley different. I don't think an A will be higher than 60%.

We shall eventually see! Anyone fancy a sweepstake?
