I know I'm supposed to work solely in the cloud but I'd like to back up my photos on an external hard drive too. I have about 80GB of stuff on various SD cards etc and I'd like to get it all in one place.

I was thinking of probably getting a 250GB, but if the price isn't much more, than I'd get bigger. All the ones of looked out just state compatibility with MAC/PC. Logic states that as long as they use USB then it should be ok, however Google/Chromebooks aren't logical. haha

    Thanks

Plug the USB in & you'll be fine :-)
Go to your files & locate the external HD on the list, right click & format the external HD. Move files. Eject before unplugging. :-)

Get at least 1tb imo. If you are at uni then check out the prices in the wd store. You have to sign up but they have student discounts.

Note a 2.5" drive is entirely portable and works off the power of your chromebook.
A 3.5" drive is stay at home as it needs a pwoer supply that plugs in. they also do wireless hdd as well.

In addition to your hdd as backup you need to use at least one other source in a different location, cloud or burn to disc and send home to aboid the risk if someone stealing your chromebook and hdd together.
