Valves and tendons! - Biology

Are atrio-ventricular valves the only valves with tendons? If so, why?

For As level those are the only ones you need to know, not sure if others have them tho. They have them so they can withstand the pressure of the contracting ventricles.

Thank you, I know the function of the tendons - to stop them inverting and withstanding high pressure from the contracting ventricles; however, what i meant was if AV valves are the only valves with tendons why don't other valves have them such as semi-lunar valves etc. but i suppose you have answered that by saying we don't need to know about them. :smile:
