I'm a little bit worried, about a week before my period I usually get some brown discharge. It's not enough to warrant a tampon but when i go to the toilet I notice it on the tissue.

My menstrual cycle is quite long, usually around 44 days. I was previously on the pill to regulate them, but I decided to come off it because the side effects were a nightmare. I now have the copper coil fitted.

The rational part of me is telling me that it's just old blood from the previous cycle. However, a part of me does worry about whether it's something worse....

I'm going to the clinic on Friday, but I am just wondering whether anyone has any advice or experiences of this?

Just old blood making it's way out before your flow fully starts. The discharge itself is nothing to woorry about. If you're concerned about you cycle though or how early the discharge comes before your period talk to a doc. People have different cycles and 44 days isn't actually too bad (it's around 5 months before its a real concern!). It's no good being worried about thigs though so get it checked out by a doc so you know it's fine amd won't worry anymore.
