Bleaching Body Hair

Heya, I have a snail trail of hairs which go down my stomach to my belly button. I've just bleached them, and the hairs themselves have bleached perfectly, but the areas of skin where I put the cream has gone white, so it looks like i have large white patch of skin on my stomach. I don't use fake tan or anything, and i don't understand why its happened :s-smilie: Does anyone know?

Have you read the instruction manual carefully? In my instruction manual for Jolene bleach it says 'will lighten excess hair and the skin surounding it' so I think what's happened to you is ok but it sounds like it's affected you a bit more than it should have, I mean my skin doesn't turn white...However, the skin lightening doesn't last as long as the hair lightening so if you wait for a week or two I reckon it will go away

It seems to do that to me for about 30mins after i've used it but usually goes away after that half hour.

Woohoo! Yeah the first time I did it I had a bit of a panic too

If your skin is very dark, maybe bleaching the hair would look odd too? Wouldn't the constrast make it more obvious?

Yea, I'm part Brazilian so I have olive skin and I bleached my arms about two weeks ago...not good. It says on the box 'leave on for ten minutes' but this is if you want white blonde hair, I think olive and black people should leave it on for less time depending on how dark their skin is. Scrape a patch of the bleach off every few minutes and check what the hair looks like, you can always spread it back on again if you want the hair lighter. DancinBallerina, it says on my box of Jolene bleach that it's suitable for all skin types but be careful that you don't end up getting the hairs too light or you'll look freaky like I do now...

That would mean that bleaching the hair on your head would also make it thicker and longer seeing as it's still hair+peroxide, whereas it's known to make your hair weaker and thinner-bleaching damages hair.
