Do you think wearing a backpack gives away the fact that youre a tourist? I prefer blending in to my surroundings, but feel carrying a backpack while traveling is helpful, since I'll have a lot of things with me that I might need (guidebooks, water, room for souveniers, etc...)
What do you all think? Should I just use a moneybelt and a purse instead?

Yes carry a rucksack everywhere, can't really go out without one as feel too self conscious without one as a backpack obscures your figure a bit so idk lol.
Also it is practical when noone can drive

Are you talking about a day pack, or a 65L backpack? And what environment/location?

I used to ditch my backpack during the day, in South America, and carry dollars inside a tubigrip on my shin (with long trousers obvs). But the idea that I'd be mistaken for anything but a tourist is just daft.
